What We Do
Cold Water Therapy/ Ice Baths
Cold water therapy is an immersion process where you allow your body to spend time in cold water that's below 58 degrees fahrenheit/ 15 degrees celsius. This type of therapy activates the body's natural healing abilities and can help relieve chronic illness — promoting better health and overall well-being. When coincided with breathing techniques, this practice can be transformative.

Meditation

When we meditate, we inject far-reaching and long-lasting benefits into our lives: We lower our stress levels, we get to know our pain, we connect better, we improve our focus, and we're kinder to ourselves. - (Mindful.org).
We can cover many various types of meditation practice, which is important to explore, so you can find the one(s) that works for you best. Meditation teaches us to focus on the present, which in turn helps us:

-
Lower your stress.
-
Understand your pain.
-
Connect better.
-
Improve focus.
-
Reduce brain chatter.
-
Lower anxiety.
-
Improve mood.

It’s estimated that 95% of our behaviour runs on autopilot. That’s because our neural networks underlie all of our habits, reducing our millions of sensory inputs per second into manageable shortcuts so we can function in this crazy world. These default brain signals are so efficient that they often cause us to relapse into old behaviours before we remember what we meant to do instead. Meditation can help rewire these brain signals with intentional actions.

Breathwork
I'm Chris, Founder & Coach of My Monkey Mind UK.

As a Certified Oxygen Advantage breathwork coach, trauma informed conscious connected breathwork coach, a qualified and experienced cold water therapist, along with being an IBF (International Breath-work Foundation), Global Professional Breathwork Alliance & ICAHP (International Compliance Assurance for Holistic Practitioners) member, I can show you how to improve your breathing technique which can:

-
Improve sleep.
-
Affect heart rate & blood pressure.
-
Aid performance.
-
Improve focus.
-
Gain control.
-
Lower stress & anxiety.
-
Improve mood.

These techniques can support better health and mental well-being, and can also be carried into your cold water therapy sessions, down regulating your sympathetic nervous system and activating your body's parasympathetic nervous system, decreasing anxiety & gaining control.

We include many breath-work practices in our coaching, giving you access to a toolkit of methods and forming your own practice that helps you.

I have walked my own path with mental health following the sudden loss of my father, where I put myself on the back burner to look after my mum and sister. Two years later that came back to bite me, bringing panic attacks and anxiety, to the point it affected my employment. Being prescribed medication didn’t sit right with me, and only acts as a sticking plaster. I delved into holistic practices such as breath-work and cold water therapy. I’ve never looked back since, and want to pass this learning onto those who will benefit from its powers.

Sound Therapy
The method of sound therapy combines carefully considered therapeutic sound techniques which have been shown to affect physiology, neurology and psychology with a form of reflective enquiry (a kind of questioning). This approach has been shown to be very effective at improving health and wellbeing.
The therapeutic sound and sound therapy techniques are delivered using tonal and rhythmic instruments and voice. The tonal instruments used are Himalayan and crystal singing bowls, gongs, drum amongst others.
It is now widely accepted that most illness is stress related. Therefore treatment methodologies that promote relaxation and help reduce stress can be a very effective way to prevent and treat illness. The method of sound therapy is very effective at reducing stress. It also enables an individual to relax deeply, achieving an altered state of consciousness similar to deep meditation.
(The British Academy of Sound Therapy).
Benefits of Sound Therapy can be:
-
Reduced stress & anxiety.
-
Lower blood pressure.
-
Improved sleep.
-
Lower cholesterol.
-
Increased focus & energy.
